Different Types of Magic Mushrooms

There are currently just under 200 known types of psilocybin mushrooms. Of these, psilocybe cubensis is the most common and makes up the majority of shroom products on the market. 

Psilocybe Cubensis

Psilocybe Cyanescens

The majority of people refer to these mushrooms as “wavy caps” because of their large and wavy mushroom tops. P. Cyanescens is native to Central Europe as well as the Pacific Northwest, but they are now one of the most widespread magic mushroom species. These shrooms tend to grow on wood chips and mulch in gardens, nature trails, and parks. Their ability to grow in extremely large quantities is what makes P. Cyanescens popular with cultivators everywhere. This species of shroom is known to be intense in effects and a bit small in size.

Psilocybe Azurescen

Discovered by Paul Stamets, these shrooms have the reputation of being one of the most potent mushrooms in the world. They are native in the west coast of the United States and are commonly referred to as the “flying saucer” mushroom. Other nicknames for this potent species include “Azzies,” “Blue Runners,” and “Blue Angels.” This species prefers to live in sandy soils as well as on decaying wood. They are also better at growing in colder climates compared to other magic mushroom species. The effects of P. Azurescen produce intense visual hallucinations in addition to heavy introspection and self-discovery. Amanita Muscaria
