Making Cannabutter For THC Caramels
Follow these instructions to learn how to make cannabutter for THC caramels. You can use cannabutter instead of regular butter in any recipe you want to infuse with THC. If you already have cannabutter, continue to the main recipe below.
1. Decarb Your Buds
Grind your buds to rice-size and spread them over a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Place them in the oven at 225 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown. Decarboxylating your cannabis activates THC and other cannabinoids, so don’t be tempted to skip this step.
2. Infuse Your Butter
Melt two cups of butter in your saucepan over low heat. Add the cannabis grinds and stir to distribute evenly. Once your buds and butter are evenly mixed, let the pan simmer for 3-4 hours. You can add water if the mixture starts to cook down too much.
3. Strain The Cannabutter
After several hours of simmering, remove the cannabutter from the stove and let it cool. Carefully strain the mixture through the strainer or cheesecloth to remove any plant matter and excess water. Add the cannabutter to a glass jar and keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to use it.
